A Place Steeped in History and Tradition
Villa Greta holds a rich history that adds to its charm. In the late 19th century, the property came into the possession of the Wittwer family, including their daughter Margareta. After the Second World War, when Lower Silesia became a part of Poland, Greta, who had fallen in love with a Polish soldier named Janek Kowalski, found herself separated from her family. Janek managed to hide Greta in the attic of a friend’s house in a neighboring village and went to Warsaw to obtain permission for their marriage. Their love story prevailed.

Today, the “Villa Greta” hotel is operated by Kristof Rozpedowski, Greta’s grandson, and his wife Ewelina.
