“Besonders wirksame und erfolgreiche Beiträge zur Transformation geleistet haben und damit zu Vorbildern geworden sind” – Expertenjury
In addition, Hansgrohe was honored with the Global Transition Award by Handelsblatt, Capgemini, right, and techem for its effective strategies towards a 1.5 °C compliant economy, demonstrating the company’s position as a pioneer in decarbonization.
Recognized as an ESG Pioneer
The Hansgrohe Group was included in the WirtschaftsWoche’s list of ESG (Environmental, Social, and Governance) pioneers in the German SME sector. Ranking at 14 out of 50 companies for ecology, social responsibility, and fair corporate governance, Hansgrohe is the highest-ranked company in the German sanitation industry.
Green Energy and Production Initiatives
Building on the achievement of becoming carbon-neutral at all its global locations in 2022, Hansgrohe has now transitioned all its production facilities to operate on green energy. The Shanghai production site has become the first gas-free location, and both the Offenburg production site and Hansgrohe’s sales subsidiary in Austria are actively expanding their photovoltaic systems.
Green Company Initiatives
Hansgrohe has undertaken ten Green Company initiatives derived from its guiding principle, “IN TOUCH WITH OUR PLANET.” These initiatives have yielded progress and initial results, such as the training of 26 employees as “Green Experts” through the “Green Mindset” program in partnership with ada Learning GmbH. The company also developed the hansgrohe Planet Edition, a water-saving showerhead that incorporates environmentally friendly recycled plastic in all its non-water-bearing parts. This innovation significantly reduces resource and energy consumption.
Furthermore, as part of the “Green Packaging” initiative, all new product packaging will be plastic-free by the end of 2025. Additionally, Hansgrohe voluntarily aligns with various sustainability commitments, including the Science Based Targets initiative (SBTi), the WIN-Charta, and the Climate Alliance of the state of Baden-Württemberg.
Enhancing Sales Success through Green Transparency Services
Hansgrohe has made significant progress in its “Green Transparency Services.” Environmental Product Declarations (EPDs) for approximately 1,500 products under the AXOR and hansgrohe brands provide detailed information on consumption and environmental impact. As a result of these efforts, the French Accor Group plans to equip 50,000 rooms across its IBIS ROUGE, IBIS STYLE, and IBIS BUDGET hotel brands with the environmentally friendly hansgrohe Crometta Vario Green showerheads. This initiative will contribute towards their overall carbon footprint reduction.
Pioneering the Future of Sustainable Bathrooms
In the spring of 2023, Hansgrohe presented its groundbreaking concept entitled “Hansgrohe’s Green Vision Beyond Water: Rethinking Bathroom Culture.” This visionary concept, showcasing a sustainable bathroom for the future, garnered significant attention at events such as the ISH trade fair, the UN Water Conference in New York, and the GREENTECH FESTIVAL in Berlin. The Green Vision also received the German Innovation Award 2023 from the German Design Council.
