TV Willstätt Aims for Victory in Sandweier Derby
Willstätt, January 20, 2024 – The TV Willstätt handball team has three remaining games in the Baden-Württemberg Oberliga. With a glance at the table, it can be seen that a theoretical fourth-place finish is still possible with 13 points. However, the Willstätt officials are not swayed by this possibility and have accepted their fate in the relegation round. Winning the remaining three matches could potentially change the table standings for the team. As the saying goes, “hope dies last,” and this will surely be the mindset for TV Willstätt.
Derby Match Against TVS Baden-Baden
The upcoming Friday presents an opportunity for TV Willstätt to make a statement. The team, led by player-coach Robin Haller, will likely play against 3. Liga relegated side TVS Baden-Baden at the Rheintalhalle in Sandweier. Currently occupying the third place with 18 points, the Sandweier team aims to secure a place in the promotion round. There is a possibility that due to the European Championship, the match could be rescheduled, as the semifinals will be taking place in Cologne on the same evening, and the German team still has a chance to qualify.
Repeating the Previous Victory
The TV Willstätt camp fondly recalls their previous victory in the derby, where they convincingly won 29-23. However, their subsequent performance saw a decline in Willstätt’s glory, and they began slipping down the ranks. The ambitions of promotion gradually faded into the background. To succeed against their rivals in Sandweier, it is crucial for the team to give their all and strive to secure the two points. Conversely, the TVS team cannot afford any slip-ups, as they risk missing out on the promotion round as well.
