Valtenbergbaude in Neukirch Remains Closed, Leaving Tourists Without a Refreshing Stop
The Valtenbergbaude, a popular tourist destination in Neukirch, has remained closed since mid-2023. Many hikers who reach the summit of the 587-meter high Valtenberg, the community’s local mountain, often look forward to a refreshing stop at the Valtenbergbaude. However, since the closure, tourists have been left without this charming mountain inn.
The closure comes as a result of a dispute between the municipality of Neukirch and the previous leaseholder. The legal battle, which began in mid-2023, still continues, leaving the future of the Valtenbergbaude uncertain.
The Long Awaited Reopening
The Valtenbergbaude has served as a place of respite and nourishment for visitors in previous years. However, according to Mayor Jens Zeiler (CDU), there are no immediate plans to reopen the Gasthaus and bring back its beloved atmosphere. This unfortunate situation has left many locals and tourists longing for the welcoming ambiance and delightful refreshments that the Valtenbergbaude once offered.
Amid the uncertainty surrounding the Valtenbergbaude, the community of Neukirch is actively seeking new operators to revitalize this cherished establishment. However, as of now, no suitable candidates have been found to take over the ownership and management of the Valtenbergbaude.
