Local Artisan, Philipp Aust: From Wine Country to Metal Masterpieces
Philipp Aust, the eldest son of the Aust family from Radebeul’s Oberlößnitz, has traded the vineyards for his forge, crafting beautiful works of art from metal and iron.
Forging Masterpieces
At a scorching temperature of 1,250 degrees Celsius, Philipp Aust heats iron bars to the point where they become malleable under the force of his skilled hammer strikes. This unique craftsmanship allows him to fashion a variety of exquisite creations.
“It is a gratifying feeling to see one’s work featured on television,” says the 49-year-old artisan.
Leaving a Lasting Impression
Radebeul, along with prominent locations such as Schloss Meseberg (the official guesthouse of the German government) and Landschloss Zuschendorf, bear the marks of Philipp Aust’s artistry. Whether it be lanterns, intricately designed gates, or ornate railings and fences, his creations adorn many notable places.
Philipp Aust’s artistry extends beyond his hometown, as he has also left his imprint on the Baroque-style castle in Brandenburg. From local landmarks to grand historical sites, his craftsmanship resonates far and wide.
