Remembering Elisabeth Trissenaar: A Prominent Figure in German Film and Theater

Born on April 13, 1944, in Vienna, Austria, Trissenaar came from a diverse background, with her mother being a vocal student and her father a Dutch doctor.

Trissenaar’s journey towards her remarkable career began during her training at the Max Reinhardt Seminar in Vienna, where she met her future husband, director Neuenfels. Their son Benedict, who later gained success as a cinematographer with the film “Die Fälscher,” was born in 1966.

Thriving in Theater:

Trissenaar’s early theater engagements led her and Neuenfels to Krefeld, where she honed her skills as an actress. She later performed in acclaimed productions in Bochum and under the direction of Peter Palitzsch at the Stuttgart State Theater. Throughout her career, Trissenaar showcased her acting prowess at various prestigious theaters, including the Schauspiel Frankfurt, the Burgtheater in Vienna, the Schauspielhaus Zürich, and the Schauspiel Köln.

A Creative Partnership:

In Berlin, Trissenaar and Neuenfels collaborated from 1985 to 1990 at the Volksbühne theater. Their artistic journey continued at the Deutsches Theater from 2001 onwards, where Trissenaar enchanted audiences with her captivating performances.
